On-Board Diagnostic (OBD) testing will be required for all motorcycles in the United States by model year 2024. The California Air Resources Board (CARB) has been in the process of evaluating the current European regulations and deciding how they want to create the US motorcycle regulations. CARB is currently testing motorcycles and collecting data to gain a better understanding of what they plan to make mandatory. A scenario that manufacturers are hopeful for is that CARB decides to harmonize with the European regulations to make both similar.

Winterpark Motorradprüfstand

In Vorbereitung auf die neuen Emissionsstandards des California Air Resources Board (CARB) für On-Road Motorcycles (ONMC) hat WinterPark in einen SuperFlow CycleDyn Rollenprüfstand investiert. Der hauseigene Prüfstand bietet viele Vorteile, wie z. B. die Möglichkeit, das ganze Jahr über zu testen und die vorgeschriebenen Fahrspuren in einer sicheren, kontrollierten Umgebung zu verfolgen. Der Prüfstand ist mit einem Burke-Porter-Fahrerhilfsprogramm ausgestattet, so dass Zyklen wie der World Motorcycle Test Cycle (WMTC) durchgeführt werden können. Zusätzlich zu den Prüfstandstests verfügt WinterPark über lizenzierte Motorradfahrer, die Tests auf der Straße durchführen können, um Kalibrierungen zu validieren und statistische Daten unter realen Fahrbedingungen zu generieren.

Since 2018 WinterPark has been working with motorcycle manufacturers to develop their OBD systems to comply with the current European motorcycle regulations. We are able to apply the experience we have in the automotive sector and apply those lessons learned to the motorcycle industry, so our customers are prepared for the upcoming CARB regulations. We are active participants in the CARB working group meetings to help develop the new motorcycle regulations and stay informed during the rule making process.
