On-Board Diagnostic (OBD) testing will be required for all motorcycles in the United States by model year 2024. The California Air Resources Board (CARB) has been in the process of evaluating the current European regulations and deciding how they want to create the US motorcycle regulations. CARB is currently testing motorcycles and collecting data to gain a better understanding of what they plan to make mandatory. A scenario that manufacturers are hopeful for is that CARB decides to harmonize with the European regulations to make both similar.

En préparation des nouvelles normes d'émission du California Air Resources Board (CARB) pour les motos routières (ONMC), WinterPark a investi dans un dynamomètre de châssis SuperFlow CycleDyn. Posséder son propre banc d'essai interne présente de nombreux avantages, tels que des tests tout au long de l'année et la possibilité de suivre les tracés de conduite prescrits dans un environnement sûr et contrôlé. Le banc est équipé d'un programme d'aide à la conduite Burke-Porter qui permet d'effectuer des cycles tels que le cycle d'essai mondial des motocycles (WMTC). En plus des tests sur banc d'essai, WinterPark dispose de pilotes de moto agréés qui peuvent effectuer des tests sur route pour valider les étalonnages et générer des données statistiques dans des conditions de conduite réelles.
Since 2018 WinterPark has been working with motorcycle manufacturers to develop their OBD systems to comply with the current European motorcycle regulations. We are able to apply the experience we have in the automotive sector and apply those lessons learned to the motorcycle industry, so our customers are prepared for the upcoming CARB regulations. We are active participants in the CARB working group meetings to help develop the new motorcycle regulations and stay informed during the rule making process.
